The customers biggest concern on this project was being unable to use their garden due to it being on such a steep slope.
We had little option but to tier the garden to give a series of usable spaces. This was achieved firstly by building a retaining wall using blocks and Bradstone walling. This top area could now be paved to give a patio area where the customers could sit out in the garden. The paving used was Indian sandstone, this gave an excellent colour contrast between the house and new wall.
From the top paved area a series of uniform raised beds were built using new timber sleepers, to lead down to a lower area where a pond takes centre stage. This is a tranquil area where gravel areas allow for seating and round timber logs take the edge off the sharp edges of the raised beds. These round logs allow for a path to encompass the pond to give complete access to tend and enjoy this area.
